Featuring: Khayaal Theatre Company; Pearls of Islam; Ustadha Badriyya Tahan

After the fantastic reception of Hakawati Nights in December 2010, Khidma is proud to present ‘Hakawati Nights II: journey to the lote tree and beyond’; an evening of storytelling, poetry, nasheeds and an inspiring talk in commemoration of the miraculous night journey of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Translated literally, “hakawati” means ‘storyteller’. The art of storytelling has long been a feature of the Islamic tradition and has played a central role in Muslim culture. Khidma has taken the step of portraying perhaps one of the most significant events of the life of the final Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) through the ancient art of storytelling.

The evening promises to take you through the miraculous journey which begins at the home of Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) in Makkah where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) retreated following the death of His beloved wife Khadija (may Allah be pleased with her), to masjid Al Aqsa, where he led all the Prophets (peace be upon them all) in prayer, sealing his leadership over mankind and then to the farthest heavens, where his vision was beautified with the sight of his Creator.

The evening features Khayaal Theatre Company who shall be depicting the story through drama, Pearls of Islam who make use of a variety of rap, poetry and nasheeds to spread love of Allah and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and esteemed Ustadha Badriyyah a scholar of Syrian origin who will be relaying lessons to be drawn from the event.

Prepare for an evening of enchantment, reflection and above all increase of love for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Creator.
